So you just finished an exquisite meal at Mulino but you’re still craving a little something to cap off the night that’s not dessert (or maybe you need something to pair with your dessert!)… At Mulino, we offer a variety of after-dinner drinks that are sure to satisfy—from coffee/espresso and tea to digestifs. And of course, you can’t go wrong with an espresso martini, especially if you’re hitting the town after dinner! Learn more about why Italians almost always reach for a drink after dinner below.
Digestifs
A digestif is a common after-dinner alcoholic beverage that many Italians drink to aid digestion or an upset stomach (which can happen after a big bowl of pasta!). Usually taken in small amounts (just an ounce or two), digestifs range from brandy to sweet, bitter, or herbal liqueur to even an aged liquor like whiskey.
At Mulino, we offer a variety of digestifs that are perfect for settling your stomach after a great meal, including Montenegro, a blend of 40 botanical ingredients; Grand Marnier, an orange-flavored French liqueur; and limoncello, our housemade lemon liqueur. After a few sips of one of these, you may just have enough room for dessert after all!
Espresso
It’s no secret that Italians love espresso. And while some think it’s strange to enjoy a cuppa after dinner (especially if they plan to hit the hay soon after), Italians swear by it for digestion. They also guarantee one shot of espresso isn’t going to deter you from getting a full night’s sleep. At Mulino, we serve espresso, cappuccinos, americanos, shakeratos, and cortados that are sure to put a little pep in your step after your meal—and if you’re really concerned about not being able to sleep, we have decaf!
